In the world of ever-evolving technology, it is important to utilise such technologies to create a better experience. One significant advancement in the UAE has been the integration of Emirates ID with clinic management systems as we did in Balsam Medico. This integration simplifies the administrative processes and creates better encounters.

The Emirates ID is a mandatory identity card issued to all UAE citizens and residents. It contains verified personal information such as full name, nationality, date of birth, gender, and a unique Emirates ID number. With modern EID integrations, this information is securely read directly from the chip, eliminating manual data entry errors and duplicate patient records.

How does it work?

It’s quite simple! Let’s check it out.

The primary use of the Emirates ID integration is the patient registration process. Usually, with new patients, a very lengthy form is filled and it might take some time that could be used in other important events. So a better way is to use the Emirates ID reader, insert the card and watch as the data appears on your screen.

As a clinic, to start with the integration all you have to do is buy the Emirates ID Reader. It is a small card reader that can be found by authorised sellers or even Amazon.ae. After obtaining it, connect it to the reception computer.

This is where we come. Balsam Medico’s team will set up a small software on the computer that reads the Emirates ID card and connects it with Medico that’s already set in the same computer. Once the card is placed into the card reader, we start the EID reader software and check the data coming from the card. Now there are 2 ways to add this data into Medico.

  1. New Patient:

Once the information appears in our EID reader, you can click on the add new patient button to add this patient to Medico. After that, the patient is added to Medico with a new Medical file number. And can be given an appointment on any particular day and time.

  1. Existing Patient:

To add the information to an existing patient, insert the card into the reader and when the data appears all you have to do is write the patient file number from Medico. Write the number, click on the update button and there you have it.

The information updated into the system is everything found on the card. These appear in the basic information in the Patient profile.

The integration follows UAE data protection and healthcare compliance standards, ensuring that patient identity data is handled securely and only stored within the clinic’s authorised system. Many clinics using EID integration report significantly reduced waiting times at reception and smoother patient onboarding, especially during peak hours.

Now you can continue with the regular process, creating appointments and generating invoices. If you need to know more, please contact us at the numbers below or the customer success team number.
