Connecting to the ever-growing network of clinics and facilities integrated with Nabidh means growing your business and guaranteeing the greatest care possible. Besides helping your patients have a seamless and updated health record, you as a clinic make the most of a productive workflow.

Benefits of integrating with Nabidh

  1. Connecting with the latest HIE offered by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA)
  2. Digitising the workflow to evolve into a paperless environment
  3. Better management of the patient’s health records, allergies, medication and more
  4. Quicker access to patient health records and history
  5. Reduction of clinical errors and cost
  6. Increasing patient satisfaction and retention

How to onboard?

Integrating with Nabidh can be done in one of two ways:

  1. Onboarding as a facility through the Nabidh portal
  2. Onboarding as a facility through an EMR system which is integrated with Nabidh

If you are wondering what is the difference and which to use, let’s explain it:

Onboarding processStand-alone FacilityFacility via EMR system
Similarities– Reach out to Nabidh’s team
– Sign the Onboarding Agreement with DHA
– Send and receive patient data to and from NABIDH
Differences– The facility will handle the technical setup, data exchange processes, and any adjustments to its internal systems.
– The higher initial cost for potential custom development, data migration tools, and ongoing maintenance to ensure compliance with NABIDH’s standards.
– The facility must ensure the manually added data is sent in the required format, this includes demographics, medical history, lab results, and more.
– The facility needs to monitor and implement updates or changes in NABIDH’s protocols.
– The EMR team will handle the technical setup and data exchange process.
– Cost is typically involved as part of the EMR integration.
– The EMR system handles all the data formatting and compliance requirements. It automates data exchange in real-time, so clinics don’t have to manually ensure the data meets NABIDH’s standards.
– EMR typically ensures the system remains compliant with NABIDH’s standards and auto updates.

In Summary:

  • Stand-Alone Facility: Offers more control but involves more complexity, higher costs, and increased responsibility for integration, maintenance, and compliance.
  • Via EMR System: Simplifies the process by leveraging the EMR vendor’s expertise and existing integration, resulting in lower costs, easier setup, and better support.

We, at Balsam Medico, understand the facility is busy with the everyday workflow and managing the operations. So why not take the pressure off you and let us do the work?

Here’s how we onboard your facility through our system:

  1. We set up your clinic with an account in Balsam Medico.
  2. We gather the necessary information from the clinic.
  3. We submit the onboarding request through the Nabidh portal.
  4. Templates and documents are filled and the DHA agreement document is sent to the facility to sign.
  5. Once the request is approved, your facility is added to the pending list of the upcoming batch of Onboarding Kick-off.
  6. Once the kick-off starts, our team will be handling all the communications, testing and setup of the integration. This includes testing the HL7 messages and the APIs provided by Nabidh.
  7. The integration takes around 2 months to complete and receive the completion certificate. However, it depends on the maturity of the facility and the flexibility of the EMR team.

Once the integration is completed and the messages are monitored and sent in real-life, a “Go-Live” email is sent. The “Go-Live” step is when the facility is officially connected to Nabidh.

What happens after the “Go-Live” step?

  • The facility is live and connected with Nabidh.
  • The facility uses Balsam Medico to add patients’ medical data to their patient profiles and visits.
  • Balsam Medico uses these data, formats them into Nabidh standards and sends them to Nabidh automatically.
  • Balsam Medico also sends the start visit date and time and finish visit date and time to the Nabidh portal.

Data sent by a facility to Nabidh via Balsam Medico

Nabidh requests the health records and appointment records. This is the list of all the important data sent to Nabidh:

  • Patients Demographic Data
  • Appointment Start and Finish Date and Time
  • Allergies
  • Vitals
  • Problems
  • Diagnosis
  • Procedures
  • Social History
  • Family History
  • Medication
  • Lab Results – Discrete and Textual
  • Radiology Results
  • Results as PDF – Lab and Radiology (Optional)
  • Immunizations (Optional)

As mentioned above, when the doctor adds these data to the system, Balsam Medico will automatically format them and send them to the Nabidh portal. This reduces human error and duplication of data.
