You have heard us and many before us talking about Nabidh. We’ve discussed earlier what Nabidh is and answered some important questions on it. But it won’t hurt to learn it again.

Nabidh is Dubai’s latest HIE platform that securely unifies patient data, facilitating easier data exchange between public and private healthcare networks. And with the DHA’s authority, every healthcare provider must integrate with Nabidh and follow their rules and regulations.

As a clinic owner or healthcare provider, you can follow the steps mentioned in our blog titled “5 Questions About Nabidh You Need To Know: A Deep Dive into Registration and Regulations”. But don’t worry, we are here to streamline this process.

With Balsam Medico’s integration with Nabidh, our EMR system has made it easier to automatically transfer the data to the Nabidh platform from within Balsam Medico. The best part is that all of this is done with no manual work thus reducing human error. Authorised healthcare professionals can easily access accurate and current medical records thanks to this connection, which makes it easier for patient data to be shared safely and consistently.

How is it possible through Balsam Medico?

Good question. Let’s explore the process!

With every action made in Balsam Medico, the system automatically saves this information and collects the important ones to send to Nabidh as a visit summary. The receptionist adds the appointment, the doctor starts the visit, operates on the current visit view and adds the treatments, visit notes, diagnosis, allergies and more. The doctor ends the visit and the receptionist finishes up the process. With the data added into the system, it checks if this is required from Nabidh or not and sends it over to the portal.

Now what are the important data to be entered into Balsam Medico?

Firstly, when adding the patient into the system, any information about the patient is saved. These could be the Emirates ID number, passport number, and insurance details. The appointment (also called the encounter) start date and time are considered. When the visit starts, the doctor adds the medical data, these include the following:

  • Treatment name and code
  • Diagnosis and Problems
  • Vitals recording
  • Allergies list
  • Prescriptions added to a patient
  • Visit notes

Ensure this information is added and continue adding any further information. Other fields are patient history, recording a voice note or uploading a patient file.

Click on Finish Visit to end it and the date and time of the Finished visit (also called Discharge) are taken into account. When the visit ends, Balsam Medico collects all information and creates the Visit Summary. This summary is automatically sent to Nabidh without any further modifications from the user side.

This helps the clinics streamline their operations and reduce unnecessary tasks such as logging into the portal and manually writing the visit data.

Another thing to keep in mind is the appointment statuses are crucial. Therefore, keep updating the status and choose the appropriate status for each case. If the appointment is cancelled for any reason, select the “Cancel Appointment” button.

In the patient information, we include the additional information that can be filled and requested by Nabidh. These include Nationality, Data Confidentiality, Next of Kin details, and more.

Let’s break down Data Confidentiality. Some patients are very hesitant about their data being transferred. So there are few options to give them.

  1. VIPs Data: No data should be sent to Nabidh
  2. Facility Opt-out: No data made from this facility to go to Nabidh
  3. Global Opt-out: No data should be sent to any clinic or Nabidh. Super private.

This integration benefits the clinics by ensuring their operations are run smoothly, all the data is securely transferred to Nabidh and eventually reducing the abundant fines that could be. It also leads to improved patient care, reduced administrative burdens, and ultimately better health outcomes.
