Firstly, what is eClaimLink?
eClaimLink is an online platform that enables healthcare providers to electronically submit insurance claims on behalf of their patients. It’s accessible through the internet and provides eligible extended healthcare providers with the convenience of capturing and submitting claims to the patients’ insurance companies in real-time.
The claims are submitted electronically and the eClaimLink portal has major components to help with the submission. You can read more about it in our previous blog about eClaimLink titled “Revolutionizing Healthcare with eClaimLink”.
We mentioned how our EMR system “Balsam Medico” can help you with submitting your claims. But how so?
Medico is a cloud-based, modern, clinic management system. We have integrated with eClaimLink, which means, you can use and submit claims through our system without the jump to another website.
Through the eClaimLink Configuration, you can generate multiple requests. Let’s take it one step at a time.
Once the doctor adds the treatment to the patient, and the patient has an insurance plan, then automatically a claim is drafted.
That way, no data is entered manually by hand reducing the risk of wrong data and human errors.
The claim can be found on the Insurance page of the Finance tab. After selecting the claim, click on “eClaimLink Config” and welcome to the one-stop feature for submitting all your claims.
Start with the prior request, click the “Generate prior request” button and double-check the form. You’ll notice that all the fields are auto-filled by our system. Once through with that, continue with the prior authorizations and the best part of all, the status of the approval is received and it also appears for the doctor in the treatment plan. This helps in reducing unnecessary communication between the doctors and the insurance staff.
And now to generate new claim XML, all by clicking the button and completing the process.
You’ve now submitted a claim through one page without needing to leave it on another page or website.
But that’s not all, you can even add claim payments. Every payment provided by the insurance company can be added to the payment section on the right side of the claim.
Finally, we’ve set up a whole page to manage everything eClaimLink has to do. On the page “E-Claim Link Management”, you can view the patient’s insurance data, the prior request and claim statuses. This puts the entire management in one view. If you want to view the submissions and the prior authorizations, just click the buttons on the top. You can also export to eClaimLink bulk claims of the same insurance plan, instead of sending them off one at a time. But if you still want to send off one claim by itself, we still offer that option.
Normally all of these procedures are done on paper with excessive copies being saved in the office. But we all know that paper has a lot of disadvantages, to name a few:
– It takes a lot of storage space
– It is a huge security risk, it can be easily lost, mishandled or damaged
– It’s more prone to damage, in situations like a fire or a natural disaster, these files are gone and there is no way of getting the information back.
– It has a high cost, including the cost of printer, papers and other office supplies
But with Medico, everything is digital. Meaning no more papers lying around, or sorting through enormous folders. Claims are filled by the system with the provided data entered by the staff, and signed by the patient digitally, either by a signature pad or a regular tablet. Saving you and your clinic on the paperwork.
There are many features we haven’t touched on in the eClaimLink Configuration and integration with Balsam Medico. We’ll get to them in future blogs.
